IGS-U: Localisation System

IGS-U: Localisation System

Laser range finders can determine position accurately relative to a known environment or map; providing identifiable features are "in line of sight".

Odometry can be used to calculate position providing movement is proportional and from a known "start point".

The IGS-U system is complimentary and additive to these other technologies.

By using ultrasonic triangulation it determines (Cartesian) position relative to three or more beacons providing an accurate "fix" on the location of the mobile robot or AGV.

Because beacons are sited at ceiling height local "on floor" obstacles do not interfere with system performance.

The system is scalable with additional beacons used to extend range.
