The CRAT20-11/11 Radar are extremely robust Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar sensors. Designed for port and intermodal environments, they are unaffected by changes in the weather or light conditions. The CRAT20 range of sensors have been successfully used in the hot climates of the Middle East and the freezing ports of Northern Europe.
The CRAT20-11/11 sensors are designed to be mounted on Ship to Shore (STS) cranes, Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTG) and Rail Mounted Gantry cranes (RMG) and can help to improve productivity by giving the driver early warning of potential hazards. While the driver concentrates on the operation of the crane the CRAT20 sensors detect unexpected objects left in the path of the crane or potential obstacles. The early warning signals alert the driver to the potential hazard giving time to slow down and stop if required, avoiding unwanted collisions and downtime.
The CRAT20-11/11 has 11° x 11° (horizontal/ vertical) beam characteristics, with a maximum range of 40 metres, and is a a very flexible sensor for easy use in a wide range of industries. Modern automated ports with large fleets of AGV's along with operator driven high reach stacker trucks benefit from the additional warning information provided by the CRAT20-11/11 sensors. With versions that can detect stationary as well as moving objects the CRAT20 can help protect against unexpected start up and movement in the wrong direction and protects areas with restricted visibility to reduce collisions and resultant reduction in productivity.
The CRAT20 range of sensors are also suitable for use indoors on Overhead Bridge Crane (OHBC), providing signals to let the operator know if the cranes are getting too close to other cranes or the end of the track.
Each CRAT20 provides 3 switched outputs. These can easily be programmed to switch at distances suitable to the applications for example warning / slow down and stop functions. Once programmed the sensor requires no further operator attention and the CRAT20-11/11 RADAR has been shown to provide years of reliable service.
